Social Services and Bereavement

The Pastoral Associate is a link between the priests and the social ministry programs and other necessary parish programs.

The responsibilities include the sharing of information in case management and tangible assistance for those who make requests. Pastoral care of the elderly, shut-ins and hospitalized parishioners is of utmost importance. The most noted social ministry is “Blanket Monday” which helps the homeless in Pittsburgh.

The Pastoral Associate provides ministry to the bereaved, participates in the activities of Ladies of Charity, DeMarillac Guild, Eucharistic ministers and lectors, and school activities.

Parishioners may help in many ways just by volunteering. It may be to type on the computer in the office or to take charge of behind the scenes planning for Novenas, the Christmas Giving Tree, Memorial Services or the Lenten Taize Prayer Service.

For more information, please contact Sr. M. Faith Balawejder, CSSF, Pastoral Associate at 412-833-1240.
