Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults represents the re-institution of the Catechumenate, the ancient process of adult formation in the Christian community. Through the RCIA an adult is prepared for full initiation into the Catholic Christian community. The RCIA entails commitment to a period of study of the Catholic faith during which the individual discerns the call to join the Catholic faith community. This program prepares one for full initiation into the Church; the initiation is not an end in itself nor is it presumed to be at the onset. RCIA is a focused experience of the ever deepening journey into the life of faith.
